Have you ever thought . . .

Have you ever thought that it would be cool to write your autobiography throughout your life, while you’re living what you write? I have pondered this many a time, and it just now brought back a memory of last year, talking to a friend.
She told me that she’s going to write about her “life” (everything would be fictional to ensure you thought that she had an amazing life) in a small journal / diary or whatever, and then “accidentally” lose it (plant it) in a very public place. She then would hope that some random person would find this journal, realize its awesomeness, and create a documentary on “The Life of _______ _______ _______”
Wouldn’t that be amazing if it were to happen?
Oooh. Look at the time! Gotta go work on my journal if I want to live to see the documentary!!!

JAKE!!!

Sinec I was on the topic of my wee fishy in my last post, I thought that I would share with you some pictures of my dog Jake.
He is a beagle-bordercollie mix and is about 7 years old now.

Most of these were taken years ago, but it’s not like he’s changed much.

Have I ever told you about Walter?

I don’t think so.
Well . . . I have a fish. His name is Walter. (I wanted to name him Noname but Coolio thought otherwise)  He is a very large goldfish that I keep in my room on my dresser. Sometimes when I’m bored, I’ll talk to him to keep him company.(or I’m just bored, so what)
Other times, he’ll pick up his little neon rocks, suck on it, then spit out against the side of the tank. It can get very noisy at night when I’m trying to sleep.
I’ve had my wee Walter for four years and counting. Before him I had like five other fish, but they all died. One time, I even accused one of them of cannibalism. (We found the other half later, so I apologized)
Boy, do I love my wittle Walter.

Contacts

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 4 years old, and I decided to take it a step further on Monday.
I got contacts.
First off, I thinks that there’s something wrong with my right one, because I can see perfectly well with the left one on, but it gets all blury with the right. So, I’ve been walking aroung my house the last couple of days trying not to trip. I can’t even write my name!
Another thing is that it takes forever to get them in. I can get them out in about 5 minutes, but it’s taken me 45 at the longest to get them in. I guess I’ll just have to practice.
Oh…one more. I went outside yesterday and rubbed my eye, and the left one just fell out! I almost died! I thought that I had lost it for  sure. But no, it was on my cheek. If I had lost it, all I would have is my right one because I only have one “training” pair. I have to go back on Monday to get more. That’s when I’ll tell them about the right one and all its blurriness.

A state trooper made me cry

So on Saturday, I went downtown to this memorial park thing called the Bicentennial Mall. They have this one area where there is this bridge with train tracks and underneath it are picnic tables and a HUGE public (but actually very clean) bathroom.

See, if you zoom in or something, you can see the tables underneath.
While some of my friends were acting like the immature beings that they are and rolling down the hill in front of the capitol, I was sitting on top of one of the tables (sitting on the table top with my feet on the actual seat) . Then all of a sudden, I feel this tap on my left shoulder and I look back and find myself looking up to the face of a state trooper. He then asks me gruffly, “What are you doin’ on my table?” As fast as I’ve ever moved in my life, and I had eye – witnesses, I slid down smacking my butt to the seat with a thump. “I’m sorry!!! ” I tell him before he questions me again. Now I’m just sitting there looking at my knees thinking, “Oh. My. Goodness. My first run in with the law. How will I EVER live this down?” Of course at the time, I hadn’t realized that he had started laughing, obviously joking with me. I thought he was gonna at least cite me or something. I thought that he was being totally serious. So what would you do. I did what any highly emotional human being would do.
I started to cry.
I was just staring at my knees, when saltwater started to fill my eyes. “NO. Of all moments, you choose now, in front of a distinguished protector of our civil rights, to let those tears spill over.” But no. Those tears did not spill over. I made sure they stayed in tose eyes of mine, not even daring them to roll down my cheeks.
When the trooper finally realized what he had caused, he apologized and even let me shake his hand. That’s when I just had to say, “I am sooo sorry, sir. It will never happen again.” He then walked away, laughing.
As you can see, I had a very emotional Saturday.

I found this quote the other day…

Strangers
Think I’m quiet

My Friends
Think I’m outgoing

My Best Friends
Know that I’m completely insane

I just thought that I should share that with you. I definitely explains me… to an extent. I am very complex.

By the way…
I love the update to the WordPress app. Now it looks just like (ish) the original online version.

Please share to show my pupils how far a photo can go (even if you don’t want it to!)

This is awesome. I’ve seen it on the news and I’ve been waiting for the day that I could share it!!!

Not about everything

Sharing this, because it seems an interesting lesson.

I am teaching E-safety to my pupils at the moment and wanted to try a little experiment. Please share this photo and see how far it gets, I want to show my students how easily photos etc can go viral, even when you may not want them to. Share it and see how far it goes!

Books, Books, and More Books!!!

In case you don’t know (but of course you wouldn’t, I’ve never told you about it), I LOVE to read. I especially love dystopian fiction. It’s a good thing that most books these days are in that genre.

So if you’re looking for some good books to read -in my opinion- and some books to steer clear of, here are some of my favorites and ones that I would never read again.

Books To Read

  • The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay — Suzanne Collins

I know that most everybody has read these by now, but it is a great series.

  • The Underland Chronicles (Gregor the Overlander) — Suzanne Collins

This is also by Suzanne Collins. It consists of 5 books and she may be writing a 6th. This series is AMAZING. I read it last year and couldn’t put it down. The first book is a little slow at first, it will get very interesting. If a 6th book does come out, I will definitely re-read the series to refresh my memory.

  • Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant — Veronica Roth

I KNOW that you’ve heard about these. Divergent is AMAZING. I started reading it one evening and couldn’t stop until 4 in the morning. Insurgent is really good, too, but it does leave you at a cliff-hanger. Now Allegiant on the other hand, we’ll get back to that one later.

  • Gone — Michael Grant

I read the first 3-ish books in the series last year and haven’t been able to finish it because I can’t find the next book ANYWHERE and I don’t want to buy it. It’s mainly about a city where all of the adults disappear and the teenagers take over. It’s really good.

  • Michael Vey — Richard Paul Evans

There are 3 books in this series so far and they are all SOOO GOOD!!! I read the first 2 last year and the 3rd this year when it came out.

  • The Giver, Gathering Blue, Messenger, Son — Lois Lowry

Lois Lowry has written many books, but these by far are my favorite. I read The Giver 3 years ago then read Gathering Blue and Messenger last year, not even realizing that it was part of the series. Then last summer I read Son to finish it.

  • The Mysterious Benedict Society — Trenton Lee Stewart

There are 3 books in this series. I read the first one 4 years ago and was finally read the others last year when I got a gift card for Books-a-Million. They’re really interesting and are worth reading.

  • The Mortal Instruments — Cassandra Clare

This series has 6 books in it, but I have only gotten through about 4/5 of the way of the first one, City of Bones. It’s now a movie, but I’ve heard that it doesn’t follow the book at all. So if you read the book then watch the movie, don’t be surprised if you’re disappointed.

  • The Percy Jackson Series — Rick Riordan

I love Greek Mythology because of this series. Before, I had never even heard of it. But, the movie was horrid so be amazed by this book.

  • The Kane Chronicles — Rick Riordan

This series is about Egyptian Mythology, instead of Greek. Not my favorite, but still worth reading.

  • The Heroes of Olympus — Rick Riordan

This continues The Percy Jackson Series with new and original characters. I have every single book.

Books Not To Read

  • The Dark is Rising — Susan Cooper

I don’t want to go much into this one. Just STAY AWAY!!!

  • Allegiant — Veronica Roth

If you read Divergent and Insurgent, just think up your own ending and throw out this one. It’s not worth the tears. SOOO not worth it.

  • The Diary of Anne Frank — Anne Frank

I seriously thought that I would like it. I like reading about history and things, especially WWII. But it was just a bad idea. It took all my power to get through it.

That’s about all I can really come up with at the moment. But, I would REALLY recommend those books up top and STAY AWAY from the ones on the bottom. I hope you don’t have your hands empty at this point because if they are, you’re not taking advantage of the amazing books that I have just told you about. TAKE ACTION!!!

My Pet-Peeves

I know that everyone has at least a few pet-peeves. But because I get irritated at really anything, I have ALOT. I just wanted to share them with you.

  • persistent beeping/clicking/any sounds that just won’t stop
  • text talk
  • commercials that are inaccurate (which, to me, is pretty much all of them)
  • things being grouped in even numbers including: exclamation points (have you noticed that I only use 3, 7, and 21?), and really just anything
  • metal (fork/spoon) scraping against my teeth (cringing at the thought)
  • SpongeBob SquarePants being typed inaccurately – Spongebob Squarpants, Sponge bob Square pants, Sponge Bob Square Pants – they need to get it right
  • people not using turn signals
  • people speeding to a stop sign to where you think they’re going to run you over then stopping abruptly and you see that you were holding your breath once you let it out
  • people being to close to me – I’m claustrophobic
  • people not answering my questions or not even replying to my “Hi!!!”
  • FEET – oooh get them AWAY from me
  • people touching my head
  • monotone speaking people
  • 1-800 numbers calling my house (you should hear the answering machine – I tell them that they’ve reached the home of my dog and that they don’t have a chance of him picking up)
  • people from other states across the country calling my house (seriously, what person from Minnesota wants to talk to me?)
  • when you go out to eat and find out that the restaurant has been torn down to build something new
  • When you go out to eat and find out that they got rid of your favorite thing on the menu(happens alot)

I think that’s enough for now. I’m pretty sure yall are getting bored with listening to my ranting.

So what are your pet-peeves?
